Setting Up Outlook 2002 and 2003

Once you have set up an email address (or addresses) in My Account, you can use Microsoft Outlook to check and manage your email. Be sure you have set up an address first before completing these steps

Basic Setup

NOTE: Clearwire's Email Configuration Tool can complete the rest of these steps for you. To use the tool click here.

1. Enable IMAP in Webmail. Don't forget to click Save Changes when you're done.

2. Open Outlook.

3. Click the Tools menu, and select E-mail Accounts.

4. Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next.

5. Select IMAP and click Next.

6. Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information:

User Information

Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From: field of outgoing messages.

E-mail Address: Enter your full Clearwire email address in lower case (including '@clearwire.net').

Server Information

Incoming mail server (IMAP): imap.gmail.com

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com

Logon Information

User Name: Enter your full Clearwire email address in lower case (including '@clearwire.net').

Password: Enter your case sensitive password.

Fill in all necessary fields to include the following information: User Information: Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From: field of outgoing messages. E-mail Address: Enter your full Clearwire email address in lower case (including '@clearwire.net'). Server Information: Incoming mail server (IMAP): imap.gmail.com Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com Logon Information: User Name: Enter your full Clearwire email address in lower case (including '@clearwire.net'). Password: Enter your case sensitive password.

7. Click the More Settings button.

8. Click the Outgoing Server tab. Select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. The selection below should also have a dot to Use same settings as my incoming mail server. Click the Advanced tab.

9. Select both boxes for This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL). Selecting SSL must be changed before changing the numbers.

10. Change the Incoming server (IMAP): to 993 and Outgoing server (SMTP): to 465. Click OK.

11. Click Next.

Using Clearwire as a Sending Mail Server Only

It is suggested to use these settings if you are using a company other than Clearwire for receiving email but need to use Clearwire for sending outgoing mail.

1. Enable POP in Webmail. Don't forget to click Save Changes when you're done.

2. Open Outlook.

3. Click the Tools menu, and select E-mail Accounts.

4. Click View or change existing e-mail accounts and click Next.

5. Select the email account that needs outbound mail and click Change.

6. Change the Outgoing mail server (SMTP): to smtp.gmail.com, then click the More Settings button.

7. Click the Outgoing Server tab. Select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Select Log on using, and enter your full Clearwire email address in lower case (including '@clearwire.net') and case sensitive password. When you're finished, click OK.

8. Click the Advanced tab. Check This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) under the Outgoing server (SMTP): Selecting SSL must be changed before changing the numbers. Change the Outgoing server (SMTP): to 465. Click OK.
